Since you are reading this blog post, quite possibly you are also part of the vast majority(over 70%) that frequently dream about escaping the day2day job and venturing into business for themselves but donât seem to find the appropriate time or a way to do it. I was in this exact position 7 years ago.
In September 2009, I was working at one of the largest marketing companies in Berkshire UK. I must say, I enjoyed the time spent there and the learning curve was incredible. It was a very lively and pleasant work environment and I was compensated the equivalent of $60.000/year, 21 holiday days and a few other benefits. Not such a bad place to be in ⦠if this is what you really want.
I was waking up at 7:45 AM, driving 45 minutes to work, spending almost 9 hours there, driving 45 minutes back from work, which got me home at around 6:30 PM. Now⦠the time left to enjoy with my family was 5 hours/day. Usually around 5 hours of me being so tired that I was falling asleep in front of the TV.
I was spending half of my time building someonelseâs dream.
My issue was this: I was spending half of my time building someone elseâs dream, another third sleeping and I was left with mearly a few hours to live for my self. Just a few hours in which, among other things, I had to focus on building MY dream also.  I was feeling unfulfilled and career caped by internal politics at work, with no time freedom. I felt I had so much more to offer to the world, ideas, talents, innovationsâ¦
I knew I didnât want to work for somebody else but to be in business for myself. I didnât have a clear way to achieve my success but what I had was a immense calling to pursue my clearly defined dream. My dream was to live financially free, 100% on my own terms and to help others achieve the same.
One of the biggest mistakes people do, in my opinion, is to think that in order to get into business for yourself you need to quit your job straight away. While thatâs true in some cases, I think the safest way to start, especially if you have a family counting on you to bring home the beacon, is to keep your job for a little while longer and start a part time business. After you get momentum you can swap the full time job for a part time one or ditch it all together if business goes well enough.
This is exactly what I did. In September 2009 I started Easy Web Media while still working for my employer.
I realised that whatever I chase or plan for, I will get!
I realised that whatever I chase or plan for, I will get. Up to that point I chased and planned for a pay-check and thatâs exactly what Iâve got. The price for it was 5 of my week days belonging to somebody else.
I started taking action towards achieving my dream then and there. It was a bit up and down but after 6 months I ditched my job and now, after 6+ years I can say I live life on my own terms. I donât worry about money and I thrive in the affiliate marketing world â here is a video training course to inspire and get you started if you think this is for you. I achieved most of my goals and Iâm on course for the remaining others.
Remember, you can never get back the time spent not chasing your dream! The time to take action is when an opportunity reveals itself.
What are you chasing, your dream or your pay-check? Take action!
